John is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, holding a B.A. degree in Finance, with high distinction. John also is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law.
John practiced law in Louisville, Kentucky for 5 years, primarily in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, regulatory work, secured lending transactions, and general corporate work.
In 1993, John purchased a book of insurance business and began his insurance career at Nelson Insurance Agency, Inc. In 1995, John purchased the outstanding shares of Nelson Insurance and became Agency President.
John and his wife Jenny were married in 1992. They have two children – Caroline, born in 1995, and Jack, born in 1997. John’s hobbies include attending college football and basketball games, playing golf and attending his children’s various activities.
